Yoga Instructors

  • Jennifer earned her teaching certification through the Kripalu School of Yoga in 2021 and since then has been teaching in both private and studio settings.

With an easeful authenticity, Jennifer weaves together mindful movement and breathwork to create a gentle, grounding practice. Jennifer’s yoga and meditation offerings are rooted in the Kripalu tradition and are also deeply informed by research on the therapeutic benefits of these modalities for physical and mental wellbeing. To that end, she has studied with numerous experts in this field, including Drs. Arielle Schwartz and Stephen Porges (Applied Polyvagal Theory in Therapeutic Yoga), Bessel Van Der Kolk (The Body Keeps the Score), and Betsy Rippentrop (Yoga for the Mind).

Check out her offerings if you’re looking for a gentle, accessible yoga class that incorporates mindfulness practices for physical and mental wellbeing.

  • Hello, my name is Michelle. also known as mom to my children Macy, Alli. Calvin and Charlotte:) I manage an eyewear boutique in downtown Iowa City (Discerning Eye) and I began teaching yoga at Benders Flexible Training Studio, just a few blocks away. For many years I have wanted to become a yoga teacher, in April that finally happened!

I have always been very physically active, but felt something was missing in my workout routine. My very good friend Jennifer introduced me to yoga.. wasn't sure if it was really my jam. Couldn't have been further from the truth. Yoga has changed my life in ways I can't explain, but will give a little insight. My life became very unbalanced. The scales were tipped further than I realized and I was needing to find a way to bring those scales a little closer to balancing. I was TERRIBLE at making time for myself, but when I slowed down, did a little digging and realized change can happen if you give yourself a little grace. You realize the strength is there. Yoga has been a way for me to heal from the things that I can not change, accept the lesson, and move forward with a better version of myself. I am also extremely grateful for each and every friendship and connection I have created while attending/teaching yoga.

Currently, I am focusing on teaching power yoga. I feel it offers the right amount of physical endurance, but allows for increased flexibility and balance. I am hoping my classes will encourage others to make time for themselves and find their "balance".
